Off the back of a successful session at the recent BALIFE festival, Liz Calder and Kay Hardy are back to answer more of your questions on Business Analysis communities and the important role different communities have within the world of Business Analysis.
Liz
Dr Liz Calder moved from academia into IT, loved it, and stayed. She’s a consultant Business Analyst working in Life Sciences and STEM with an ongoing fascination with human psychology and behaviour, and the intersections with IT - whether that is to do with reactions to change, team development or less conscious behaviours such as cognitive bias & ethics. As President of IIBA UK, she champions Business Analysis as a profession across the country and promotes peer networks and support. Hobbies do not include writing interesting bios and do include live music, lifting heavy weights in the gym, growing vegetables for her kitchen, and trying to do too many things at once.
Lauren Howes
Lauren has worked for the Bank of England for nearly 10 years, starting as a school leaver on an operational team. Through hard work and determination she succeeded in establishing a career in the Business Analysis Practice at the Bank. Lauren has worked on large scale programmes and is currently specialising in the Financial Markets and Banking domain. She has been heavily involved with developing the BA standards to drive consistency whilst juggling the demands of critical projects on restricted timelines within a broad range of environments. This was recognised by AssistKD and IIBA UK when she was shortlisted as a finalist for BA of the Year 2019. Keen to share her experiences with the younger generation to inspire them to public service and business analysis, Lauren travels around the country speaking to secondary schools in her role as a Bank Ambassador and is co-founder and chair of the Young Business Analyst (YBA) group.
Michael Le
Michael graduated from Henley Business School at the University of Reading with a degree in Bsc Finance and Investment Banking. He is currently on the Business Analysis graduate program with Capita, where he recently completed the BCS Business Analysis Foundation Certificate. Michael joined the Young Business Analyst (YBA) group before their launch in September 2020. To date, Michael has successfully facilitated multiple YBA events in his role as an Events Coordinator and recently facilitated requirements elicitation workshops to help shape and guide YBA forward into its second year. He has thoroughly enjoyed working with and learning from all the volunteers and is grateful for the opportunity.
