As an organisation that represents the UK business analysis community, we know how important professional development can be. Our members consistently tell us that they value our regular events, but in 2014 we're looking to expand things further with a new mentoring pilot. Mentoring is a fantastic way of increasing your BA skills – by taking part as either a mentor or a mentee.

The pilot mentoring scheme will last for 6 months, from July 2014 to February 2015. It will be limited to 30 participants (a mixture of mentors and mentees) who will be carefully selected from the application list and will be invited to participate in the pilot scheme, starting with a kick-off event in London.

Both members and non-members may apply. Members will be given priority. Successful applicants will be notified before the kick-off event.

After the kick-off event, the mentoring pilot will operate as a programme, with a number of touch-point sessions, and a final review event. Whether you're a mentor or a mentee, you'll be fully supported throughout this journey. After the pilot has completed, we'll reflect on its success, and will be considering offering this on a wider basis as an additional member benefit during 2015.

Intentions of the kick-off event:

  • Agree a shared understanding of mentoring and good practice for IIBA UK members
  • Identify and strengthen mentoring skills
  • Establish and clarify the mentoring relationships

Intentions of the pilot scheme:

  • Ongoing review of the BA mentoring process
  • End of pilot review with a view to offer the ongoing opportunity to be a mentor/mentee to IIBA UK members
