Business Architecture is hot but also hotly debated. There are numerous perspectives that must be taken into account to create and sustain the critical knowledge required. It seems natural for Business Analysts to aspire to this challenge. But what is Business Architecture?

Ultimately a useful Business Architecture defines the needs and structure of the business itself and then and only then considers the enabling support required to make the business come alive and the priorities for investing in integrated change. We have to be able to clearly articulate what we strive to accomplish (the ends) and then define what we have to build, connect and do to accomplish it (the means). Defining and aligning the many moving parts is the key that characterizes this emerging practice.

Roger Burlton, a world leader in Business Architecture and Business Process Management, will discuss what is happening in this new and exciting field and along the way bust some misconceptions.

He will discuss

  • Business stakeholder analysis and strategic intent
  • Business process architecture as the foundation
  • The business performance framework
  • Shared enterprise-wide capabilities
  • Business semantics and the information model
  • Business decisions and business rules
  • The business change roadmap
  • Culture change
