Business Analyst, Teradata

Location: UK-wide
Salary: £50,000 - £75,000


The Role

The Teradata BA role is a multi-faceted role, active as part of end-to-end project delivery as well as in pre-sales cycles for business exploration.

Teradata BAs are responsible for the delivery of the business analysis workstream for Teradata services delivery and must have a deep understanding of the fine points of the data arena: data warehousing, big data, data usage, tools and analytics, in order to extract the correct requirements from our clients.

The role is 80% travel and involves work across the UK and Ireland, with potential work across the Northern Europe region.

Key responsibilities / accountabilities:

You must have high levels of self-motivation, excellent relationship management and the ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders in industry-appropriate terminology.

On engagement, you will be responsible for the full BA workstream using Teradata methodologies and processes, including but not limited to -

  • Workstream scoping, planning and execution
  • Requirements management (functional, non-functional) and associated documentation management
  • Communications and stakeholder management
  • Prototyping and UAT

Degree and qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience (M)

Role Overview

These will be full-lifecycle projects, involving the Business Analyst at every stage, including but not restricted to: requirements definition (defining, analysing, documenting and interpreting business requirements), market evaluation, selection, configuration, training, testing, implementation, change management, and post-implementation road-mapping and review.

The Project Management Office

The Business Analyst will sit within the Technology department, but will work as a key member of the cross functional teams. The Business Analyst team is headed up by the Strategy and Architecture Manager and comprises 3 Business Analysts. The Business Analyst team sits within the wider Project Management Office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake consultation, interviews and workshops with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Analyse requirements, providing clear, concise and objective analysis
  • Document requirements and process flows (existing and future)
  • Capture and disseminate both technical and business information
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Liaise between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Assist sponsors to make a preferred solution decision
  • Assist in the implementation of the chosen solution to ensure that it continues to meet the documented requirements
  • Produce a road-map for future product developments
  • Work with the PMO project managers and be accountable for skills and knowledge transfer to support teams

Candidate Requirements

Candidates for this position will be expected to have worked, or be working, in a similar role within a professional services environment. We also require candidates to have:

  • Experience of working in a business analysis role
  • Experience of working on IT projects, covering the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience of effectively eliciting requirements from a variety of audiences
  • Experience of requirements management, including documentation, assimilation, and translating requirements into tender documents
  • Experience of generating and collating accurate project documentation
  • Strong data analysis and mapping skills
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft products and legal software
  • Excellent communication skills and team collaboration
  • Displays the highest standard of professional ethics
  • BA accreditation by either BCS BA Diploma or IIBA CBAP
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio
  • Understanding and experience of a variety of project management methodologies
  • Experience of dealing with external suppliers
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills

Lead Business Analyst, Wesleyan

We are looking for a Business Analyst.

As part of our Business Analysis team you will provide business analysis services, including requirements elicitation, facilitation and process mapping.

Working closely with our Transformation department you will support current and future change programmes.


Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure that quality standards are in place and are, as a minimum, met for the analysis and design activities including requirements elicitation/management; workshop facilitation; problem identification/solving; to be design/documentation etc
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the BA skill set including, but not limited to: requirements elicitation; process analysis; stakeholder management; data analysis; pre-project analysis etc
  • Plan and co-ordinate the allocation of BA resources to support the needs of the Programme
  • Provide leadership, support and advice to the Programme in planning and implementation of changes into the Business
  • Critically review and evaluate any proposed solutions identifying alignment with business requirements, making recommendations to Programme Management ensuring they are fully aware of key risks and assumptions, and marrying up technical limitations with operational realities
  • Facilitate workshops, focus groups, planning groups and other related meetings with Key Stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts
  • Draft appropriate and robust project documentation, which may include:- Business Requirements Documents, Design documents; Business Case Justification, Project Initiation Documents, Communication Plans, Risk and Issues Logs, Business Benefits Realisation Plans, KPI reports
  • Act as technical knowledge custodian, change advocate and cultural champion
  • Act in a consultancy/account management role to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, business users, senior operational management, customers and third parties

  • Knowledge of how financial services and / or regulated organisations work
  • Ideally some formal project management or Insurance qualifications
