Higher Business Analyst, Health & Social Care Information Centre

Location: Leeds
Salary: £31,072 - £40,964

An exciting and challenging position has arisen for a highly motivated and skilled Higher Business Analyst who would like to be involved in projects within the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).

With an annual budget of more than £200 million and oversight of a £1 billion spend, the HSCIC is responsible for the gathering, analysis and publishing of health and care information, and for delivering the crucial IT infrastructure and applications that support the NHS and Social Care. As such, we play a key role in driving the speed and efficiency of these services and, ultimately, the delivery of better patient care.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our business analysis community where you will be encouraged to demonstrate your skills and talent from day one.

About us

Based in Leeds City Centre Offices, the HSCIC deploys Programme, Project Management and Business Analysis professionals to a wide range of national IT and business change projects using both traditional Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.

These are exciting times as in April 2013 we transitioned to a new organisation, the HSCIC, and acquired additional powers under the Health and Social Care Act 2012.

The role

You will be expected to undertake business analysis activities across a range of complex work assignments, to assure the successful design and implementation of information systems and other change projects. This will involve often working as part of a team of analysts depending upon the project. You will gain experience of the full project and IT development lifecycle; typical assignments may include process mapping, requirements analysis, authoring specifications and report and extract definitions, testing and service design.

The role will require you to pick up a new area of work quickly and work in collaboration with stakeholders within the NHS, Department of Health and internal or third party IT suppliers to produce high quality products and services.

As the role involves working with a variety of stakeholders, you will need to have highly developed communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate business problems and opportunities in the context of business requirements.

The role of Higher Business Analyst will operate as part of a resource pool and will be allocated to one or more programmes or projects across the HSCIC Portfolio. A typical assignment would be within the Information and Analytics Directorate – understanding flows of data and systems which underpin the delivery of quality and timely information.

About you

You will be a highly motivated and organised individual, who is able to manage and priorities your workload in a dynamic and challenging business environment. You will have worked as a Business Analyst on complex projects and be committed to producing high-quality analysis deliverables.

Experience in the following areas is essential:

Requirements capture, elicitation and management; stakeholder identification, engagement and management; business process mapping and business/user acceptance testing.

Recognised business analysis qualifications and experience using UML, use cases and CASE tools are desirable.

Rewarding you

Not only will you benefit from working in close collaboration with the rest of our highly skilled team; but we will also invest in your personal development as a Business Analyst. The HSCIC also offers an excellent contributory pension scheme, 27 days annual leave, flexible working and excellent offices in Leeds city Centre.

In line with Agenda for Change, applicants are expected to start at the bottom of the pay band. For more information search 'Agenda For Change' in your search engine of choice.
