New to Business Analysis - a panel discussion
The panel of recent entrants to the Business Analysis profession from Be Positive and Lloyds Banking Group will be talking about their experiences of beginning their careers in Business Analysis.
Cameron Beasley and Mitchell Cockburn, who joined Be Positive’s graduate programme last summer will be talking about how they got started, what’s worked well and helped them develop in their roles and what they’ve found challenging.
Over the last 4 years, Be Positive has developed a highly successfully Graduate Scheme. They have recruited and trained a number of BAs and are currently on their third intake. The key objectives of the scheme is to develop raw talent which can be shaped into targeted and focused employees who can make a long-term contribution to the development of Be Positive and the Business Analysis profession.
In 2015 and again in 2017, Be Positive were awarded the Investors in Young People accreditation which is a good practice framework that recognises organisations that recruit, retain and develop young people. But perhaps more tellingly, Be Positive’s recruitment into the scheme is predominately through the graduates they have previously hired. Graduates seem to like working with Be Positive so much they tell their friends and family about them.
Michael Moyes and Lesley Easton
For a number of years LBG Group Transformation has worked in collaboration with Pontoon (part of the Adecco Group) to support and develop graduates during a 12 month fixed term contract. In 2016, LBG recruited 25 graduates and developed their skills in a variety of Change Job Family roles with 12 in Assistant Business Analyst roles. Through a large in-sourcing programme undertaken last year, LBG was able to offer all the Pontoon colleagues’ permanent role in their chosen discipline.
LBG has recruited a further 10 graduates this year and are supporting their development as Assistant Business Analysts. Michael Moyes joined LBG in February as part of this cohort and will discuss his Business Analysis journey, including his highlights and challenges so far.
Lesley Easton has worked for LBG for 13 years and after 12 years of working in Contact Centre roles, moved to Group Transformation last year as part of the in-sourcing programme. Lesley will give an insight into her what lead her to take her career in a different direction and she has found her development in the Business Analysis role since joining Group Transformation.
