When she left school, Rita knew that she did not want to end up in an office job and working in IT never entered her head. That was a lifetime ago and since then Rita has worked as a dental nurse, got married and lived in five different countries before going to University to gain a degree in Information Systems (IS). Rita will share her BA journey via several deviations, how her life has influenced her BA work, how it isn’t just an ‘office-job’ and how it is nowhere near what she believed working in IT would be like.
Rita Arafa started work as a BA in the IT sector relatively late and arriving there wasn’t part of a planned career path. Now with 25 years’ experience working as a Senior BA and Manager in the IT arena, her talk will give an insight to her journey to get there.
Rita Arafa is a Senior Business Analyst with 25 years’ experience working in IT development, both in the private and public sectors. Rita currently works for Aire Logic, a healthcare IT company dedicated to improving the delivery of care. Rita is passionate about encouraging a more diverse workforce in IT. Rita is a committee member of the BCS Women Specialist Group as well as being actively involved in a local French Club and she is the Chair of a local Marie Curie Fundraising Group. Rita is married with 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren.
